Stress-free outdoor wedding celebration at The Waterfall in Delaware

Why Delaware Couples Choose The Waterfall for a Stress-Free Wedding

Planning a wedding means juggling a florist, a photographer, a caterer, and a dozen other details that all need to line up on the same day. At The Waterfall, we take on most of that juggling ourselves. Couples still choose their own photographer, DJ, and florist, but the catering, lighting, and cake coordination are handled by our team from the first meeting through the last dance. Couples from Wilmington, Philadelphia, South Jersey, and across Delaware often compare several venues before choosing the one that feels right. Our goal is to make that choice easier with a wedding experience that keeps the main details under one roof.

The Waterfall in Delaware offers weddings across two ballrooms accommodating up to 800 guests when combining spaces, with in-house catering covering a cocktail hour with over 30 hors d’oeuvres, a four-course dinner, dessert displays, and a champagne tower. Outdoor ceremonies use landscaped gardens with fountains and a bridge, with an indoor backup option if weather doesn’t cooperate, and outside caterers are permitted for Indian weddings and other cultural celebrations requiring specific cuisine.

A Stress-Free Wedding Experience at The Waterfall

Weddings come with a lot of moving pieces. At The Waterfall, we help simplify the day by handling catering, lighting, cake coordination, and the event flow, while you choose your photographer, DJ, florist, and other personal vendors.

Two Ballrooms Built for Different Kinds of Celebrations

We offer two ballrooms, each with its own personality. The Grand Ballroom is built for larger celebrations, with Roman Corinthian marble columns, crystal chandeliers, and a marble dance floor accented by customizable lighting. Use of the Grand Ballroom Patio, where our signature waterfall sits, is included with this room.

The Cascade Ballroom has a different feel entirely. Natural light pours through custom arched French doors, and the room features Tiffany accents, draped ceiling details, and a hand-carved marble dance floor shaped into an oval. Its adjacent manicured gardens are a favorite spot for guests to step outside for a drink or a quiet conversation.

Each ballroom comes with its own outdoor garden, private restrooms, and a private suite where the wedding party can prepare or take a moment away from the crowd. When the full house is used, the Waterfall can accommodate up to 800 guests, giving couples room for larger celebrations without moving between separate venues.

Ceremony Options for Every Season

Our outdoor grounds include landscaped gardens, marble water fountains, a gazebo, and a bridge, all of which make for a memorable ceremony setting when the weather cooperates. Guests are then led through arched French doors into a rotunda with a handmade blown glass chandelier, then into a cocktail room with a skylight and an onyx stone wall behind the bar. But Delaware weather does not always cooperate, and we know that. If the weather does not allow for an outdoor ceremony, we can host the ceremony inside the reception space and flip the room back during cocktail hour. That keeps the day moving without sending guests to a separate location.

Food That Guests Actually Talk About

Our cocktail hour is one of the most talked-about parts of the evening. It includes staffed culinary stations and a passed selection of more than 30 hors d’oeuvres. Dinner is a four-course, plated gourmet meal, and some of our most popular entree selections include our Champagne chicken, Filet of Scottish Salmon prepared a few different ways, and Chateau Briand. Dessert closes the night with staffed displays and a champagne tower. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available for guests with dietary needs, and we source ingredients locally whenever possible.

Catering Flexibility for Cultural Traditions

While our packages are built around in-house catering, we understand that some traditions call for specific cuisine that goes beyond a standard menu. For Indian weddings and other cultural celebrations with specific cuisine needs, outside caterers can be allowed. This gives couples more room to honor family traditions while still hosting the event at The Waterfall.

A Team That Knows the Schedule

Couples who have celebrated with us often mention the staff by name in their reviews, from event coordinators to bridal attendants to the Maitre’D on duty the night of the event. That consistency matters on a day with this many moving parts. Our team works with your outside vendors, including your DJ, photographer, florist, and officiant, so the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception stay on track.

Conclusion

Couples choose The Waterfall because they want a wedding day with fewer loose ends. With two ballrooms, outdoor and indoor ceremony options, in-house catering, and a team that keeps the day moving, the experience is designed to feel easier from the start. Whether you are planning an intimate reception or a full-house celebration, we can walk you through the spaces, menu, and schedule options during your tour.
