How The Waterfall Banquets Plans an Engagement Party in Delaware

Planning an engagement party should feel clear, organized, and enjoyable. You want good food, a space that fits your guest count, and a team that helps keep the event moving. For couples planning in Delaware, Wilmington, Philadelphia, or South Jersey, The Waterfall offers an all-inclusive setting for engagement parties with ballrooms, outdoor areas, catering options, and an event team that helps manage the flow of the day.
The Waterfall in Delaware hosts engagement parties for up to 800 guests across two ballrooms, with all-inclusive packages covering a cocktail hour with over 30 passed hors d’oeuvres, a four-course dinner, staffed dessert stations, customized lighting, and a top-shelf open bar. A Maitre’d and event team manage the floor throughout; outside caterers are welcome for cultural menus, and couples handle photographer, DJ, and florist separately.
We host engagement parties alongside weddings, corporate events, mitzvahs, birthday celebrations, and more. So when a newly engaged couple comes to us asking how this all works, we actually have a clear and specific answer.

What an Engagement Party at The Waterfall Actually Looks Like

Choosing the right ballroom usually starts with your guest count and the style of event you want. The Grand Ballroom and the Cascade Ballroom include private suites, private restrooms, and outdoor garden access.

Two Ballrooms, One Decision

The first question most couples ask is which space fits their guest count. We have two ballrooms, and they’re genuinely different from each other.

The Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 500 guests and features Roman Corinthian marble columns, crystal chandeliers, a marble dance floor, and lighting that can be customized according to the event. Use of the Grand Ballroom Patio with our signature waterfall is included.

The Cascade Ballroom holds up to 325 guests. Natural light pours through custom arched French doors, and the hand-carved oval marble dance floor with draped ceiling accents gives the room a distinct character. The manicured outdoor gardens just outside are a natural spot for guests to step out during cocktail hour. When the entire property is used, The Waterfall can accommodate up to 800 guests.

The Flow From Welcome to Final Toast

Cocktail hour comes first. Our team staffs the culinary stations while more than 30 passed hors d’oeuvres are circulated through the room. Some of our most popular selections include baby lamb chops, coconut shrimp, scallops wrapped in bacon, crab rangoon, and cheesesteak egg rolls, alongside a Toscano table with caprese salad, artisan meat board, fresh seafood salad, and grilled vegetables.

Guests then move into the ballroom for a four-course gourmet dinner. Some of our most popular entrée selections include Champagne Chicken, consisting of chicken breast with spinach, mushrooms, prosciutto, Boursin cheese, and champagne honey beurre blanc. Other guest favorites include slow-braised beef short ribs, filet of Scottish salmon, and Flounder Charleston, consisting of flounder topped with shrimp, lobster, and sherry cream sauce. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available, and we source ingredients locally whenever possible.

Then come the desserts. A staffed Viennese table, Belgian waffle and ice cream station, chocolate fountain, milkshake station, champagne tower, and a full international coffee bar with cappuccino, espresso, and liqueur options. It’s something your guests won’t stop talking about. Top-shelf open bar options are available as part of the package.

What’s Included and What You Handle Separately

Our all-inclusive packages cover catering, customized lighting, and handcrafted cakes. You choose your photographer, DJ, and florist. That’s your side of the list. Our team manages the in-house details, timing, food service, and event flow so the celebration feels organized from start to finish. We also welcome outside caterers, especially for events with specific cultural food traditions. Just let us know when you reach out.

During the event, our Maitre’D and event team manage the floor so you’re not watching the clock or chasing vendors. Our coordinators also work directly with your DJ and photographer to keep transitions clean from one moment to the next.

Conclusion

An engagement party should feel organized, welcoming, and easy for your guests to enjoy. At The Waterfall, we handle the details that actually matter, from the food to the flow to the staff managing the floor, so you can enjoy the night the way it was meant to be enjoyed.

FAQs

Can we bring our own caterer for cultural or specialty food?

Yes. We welcome outside caterers, particularly for niche cultural menus. Let us know during planning so we can coordinate.

Which ballroom works better for a smaller engagement party?

The Cascade Ballroom, which accommodates up to 325 guests, tends to feel more fitting for mid-size gatherings. It also has adjacent outdoor gardens that work well for cocktail hour. The Grand Ballroom is the right call for larger parties up to 500. A tour helps you decide.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options are available. We use high-quality produce and meats and source ingredients locally when possible.

Do you set up our decor?

Our packages include customized lighting. Decor setup should be handled by you and your vendors, so it is best to coordinate that part with your florist, decorator, or planner before the event.
